Who Is Angel?

Separation & Divorce Self-Help GroupAngel Freedman is a social worker, specializing in individual and group councelling. She also offers her expertise in parenting and communication. Angel is an event specialist, including having produced the award winning play "The Vagina Monologues" written by Eve Ensler. She is also an accomplished public speaker and activist, involved in issues of feminist, homelessness, youth in crisis, domestic violence and other social justice movements.

As a student at York University's Social Work Honours program, Angel took her electives in Women’s Studies and Community Policing. Throughout her school career and community involvement Angel has continued to see a correlation between community, family and policing.

Angel’s education was not limited to university. She also made time to be trained in Adlerian Psychology by attending parenting classes, youth gang seminars, and critical incident and stress management. To further Angel’s interest in the theories of Alfred Adler she, attended several North American Adlerian Conferences in the United States and Canada. Angel continues to attend many seminars and events on such topics as parenting, youth violence, social media, homelessness, women’s issues and social injustices.

Here's a bit more about Angel's career:
  • In 2009, Angel created the Women's Car care Clinic's. The clinics are designed to educate women on basic car maintenance and emergency preparedness. Angel facilitates and coordinates these clinics at the Richmond Hill Honda Dealership.
  • Angel’s event planning skills have earned her much praise and encouragement from local business in Richmond Hill. Through her efforts she has raised awareness for many social services in York Region, such as Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region, Krasman Centre for Mental Health, Pathways Youth and Children, Blue Door Shelters and the list goes on. Through her efforts to create events for local business to increase profit margins she maintains that businesses that support the community will earn the trust and support from the community around them.
  • In 2010 Angel threw her hat in the municipal elections and won 36 percent of the vote. Her wide array community involvement with her most celebrated accomplishment, Westbrook Residents' Association since 1997 as the past president earned her a very welcoming first attempt at the political ring.
  • Angel is a leader, communicator, an experienced negotiator, and problem solver. Angel is a firm believer that no problem is so big that we can’t find a solution together.
